Pro has an extensive background in sport biomechanics, sport product development & innovation, management, and performance analysis. He has a variety of professional experiences in sport, technology, research, and business, which provides him with a firm understanding of applications, technologies, and business practices in the sport and health industries. Pro possesses a unique skill set and has been involved in all stages of the product development cycle for companies such as Nike, adidas, Under Armour, Polar Electro, Garmin, Suunto, lululemon, and Taylor Made.
John Horton, M.Sc.
John brings a strong research and performance analysis background to the Sport Product Testing group at the CSI Calgary with expertise in design of research test procedures, subject recruitment, data collection & analysis, and scientific writing. He has applied his knowledge and talent for sport into developing a thorough understanding of functional performance, consumer insights, and sport product development within the corporate environment. John has been instrumental in managing research projects for major sporting goods and technology companies such as Nike, Suunto, Polar Electro, Taylor Made, lululemon, and Under Armour.
Colin Firminger, Ph.D.
Colin’s background centers around the application of engineering principles to model and quantify biomechanics in both athletic performance and overuse injury scenarios. In prior research collaborations with GE Healthcare, Under Armour, adidas, and Robbins Sport Surfaces, Colin has utilized state-of-the-art mechanical testing and analysis techniques to provide insights about how products perform and interact with the athlete. Colin obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
Breann Worobets, M.Kin.
Breann brings an exercise physiology and human performance perspective to research in biomechanics. She has gained extensive experience in data collection by testing many elite athletes using various pieces of equipment and performing many different protocols. Her detail orientated qualities help contribute to accurate and reliable data collection required for companies such as Lululemon and Under Armour. She also has been able to help guide practicum students in applying their knowledge to real world situations.
